Patrol police in Voronezh detained a 21-year-old man who deceived citizens by pretending to be disabled. This was reported by the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).
The man was near one of the shopping centers and, limping demonstratively, asked passersby for financial assistance.
During operational actions, the offender was detained. Upon inspection, he admitted that he had no health problems, and his «limp» was only a way to evoke sympathy and obtain money.
For his actions, the perpetrator was held administratively liable under the charge of «petty hooliganism» and fined 500 rubles (approximately $6 at current rates).
Police remind that any attempt to obtain money by deceit is an offense. Citizens are advised to be vigilant and to contact law enforcement agencies in case of suspicions.
