Wrong-Way Driving Causes Fatal Crash in Tikhvin District
A driver of an Opel Corsa was killed and a Kia Spectra driver was seriously injured in a crash on February 2 in the Tikhvin District of Leningrad Oblast.

On Tuesday, February 2, around 12 p.m., a serious traffic accident occurred at the 433rd kilometer of the Vologda–Tikhvin–R-21 «Kola» highway in the Tikhvin District.
According to preliminary information from the Traffic Police Department for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast, a 61-year-old driver of an Opel Corsa, while attempting to overtake, drove into the oncoming lane and lost control of the vehicle.
The car crashed into a barrier, after which it collided with an oncoming Kia Spectra driven by a 45-year-old man. From the impact, the Kia was thrown into the adjacent lane, where it collided with a DAF truck. The truck was driven by a 51-year-old driver.
The driver of the Opel Corsa died from his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Kia Spectra was taken to a medical facility in serious condition.
