Woman killed by electric train in St. Petersburg

Transport police officers are investigating the circumstances of the woman«s death on the railway tracks in St. Petersburg.
As reported on January 30 by the press service of the Transport Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Northwestern Federal District, the incident occurred at the 9th kilometer of the Lanskaya-Shuvalovo section.
The electric train on the Roshchino-Petersburg route struck the 86-year-old local resident, who was crossing the tracks at an unauthorized location.
The driver, noticing the pedestrian, sounded several auditory signals and applied emergency braking. It was not possible to prevent the collision. The woman died from fatal injuries.
Following the incident, law enforcement agencies have launched an inspection to ascertain all details of what happened.
