Witnesses: Last Cleaning of Collapsed Novosibirsk Mall Roof Was in December

Witnesses testified that the roof of a shopping center in Novosibirsk, which collapsed in January, was last cleared of snow in December, amid abnormal winter precipitation.

Witnesses provided the date when snow was last cleared from the roof of the shopping center, which collapsed on January 21 in the Pervomaysky district of Novosibirsk. It was revealed that the work was carried out even before the New Year holidays.
According to witness testimony, snow on the mall«s roof was cleared on December 31. The last roof inspection was conducted in 2023, reports an NGS correspondent who is in court where pre-trial restrictions are being considered for Sergei Turkov, the building»s owner.
Earlier, Novosibirsk Mayor Maxim Kudryavtsev reported that the city received an abnormally large amount of precipitation over three months. Data from the West Siberian Hydrometeorological Service (UGMS) confirmed this — according to their data, this hasn«t happened since 1900. Heavy snowfalls hit Novosibirsk on January 6 and 12.
All information about the collapse of the shopping center has been compiled by NGS in a separate report. The second floor collapsed on Naumova Street on the afternoon of January 21, trapping several people under the debris, one of whom died.
