When Heat and Light Will Return in Murmansk Region

Five power line supports were damaged, causing a major outage.
Power supply to all boiler houses has been restored, and heat will soon begin to return to the homes of northerners in stages. The boiler houses are operating stably, and heat supply is already underway. This was reported by Governor Andrey Chibis in his Telegram channel.
According to the company Rosseti, a final inspection recorded the collapse of five power line supports. Due to serious damage, a full restoration of power supply will take at least a day.
To speed up the work, the delivery of new supports has been organized from Leningrad Region and the Republic of Karelia. First priority has been given to connecting socially significant facilities—water supply and healthcare institutions.
«We also ask people to limit their use of electrical appliances and equipment where possible to relieve additional strain on the grid,» Chibis requested.
Restoration work is continuing around the clock. Resource-supply organizations are in constant contact with utility management companies. The situation remains under control, with reports on the progress of work coming in hourly.
As a reminder, a state of high alert was introduced in the Murmansk region due to the power outage. This decision was made at a meeting of the operational headquarters. Street lighting was temporarily switched off in Murmansk.
The press service of Rosseti Severo-Zapad (Rosseti North-West) reported that the cause of the outage was a technical failure on an overhead power line. The Prosecutor«s Office of the Murmansk Region has already begun an investigation into the massive power outages. A criminal case has been initiated.
Residents of Murmansk were told where they could go to warm up and charge electronic devices.
