Volunteers find body of 9-year-old boy trapped in ice

The child«s body was found at night. Volunteers and concerned citizens participated in the search operations, which allowed the boy to be discovered faster than if the search had been conducted only by official services.

Late on Monday evening, the murder suspect was brought to the Lomonosovsky District. He pointed to a location near the Nizhny Shinginsky Waterfall where he had disposed of the body. Initially, the search was to continue at daybreak, but a group of people independently went to the indicated spot and noticed a backpack frozen in the ice. Investigators and police quickly arrived at the scene and, together with volunteers, extracted the child«s body. In the morning, the suspect will be brought back for investigative actions.

According to the investigation, on January 30, 38-year-old Pyotr Zhilkin picked up 9-year-old Pasha in his car on Tallinn Highway and took him away. For four days, law enforcement agencies searched for the missing boy and the car owner. The suspect was detained in the Pskov Region. He gave a confession, detailing the circumstances of the murder and concealment of the body.
