Video captures truck colliding with Moscow train near Volgograd

Near Volgograd, a collision between a passenger train and a UAZ truck was captured on video. The accident occurred on 31 January in the Novoanninsky District and miraculously resulted in no casualties.

According to the Privolzhskaya Railway, the accident occurred on the section between Budarino station and Razyezd 782nd kilometer:

«The driver of a passenger car drove onto the railway crossing in front of an approaching passenger train No. 16 running from Moscow to Volgograd,» according to a statement from the Privolzhskaya Railway. «The engineer applied emergency braking, but the distance was insufficient, and the collision could not be avoided. According to preliminary information, there are no victims. Passengers and the locomotive crew of the train did not seek medical assistance.»

In footage that appeared on the Telegram channel «Novoanninsky Today», it is seen how the driver of a cargo UAZ approaches a crossing without a barrier in front of an approaching passenger train. The vehicle slows down slightly before the crossing, then attempts to cross the tracks but does not have time — the locomotive hits the car in the left rear corner of the body, throws it off the road, the UAZ spins around its axis and stops in the railway ditch.

The Volgograd Transport Prosecutor«s Office is checking compliance with legislation in the field of traffic safety and operation of railway transport. The circumstances and causes of the collision are being established. Based on the results of the inspection, the issue of the need to take response measures will be considered.

Later, police clarified that the 38-year-old driver of the UAZ entered the crossing on a prohibitory traffic signal and was taken to the hospital.
