Urals infant dropped from window to escape fire

In Asbest, young parents dropped an infant from a window to save it from a smoke-filled apartment.

«The child was caught by two men and handed over to medics,» shared a girl who was passing by the burning house.

The fire broke out in a house on Chelyuskintsev Street, 13, around 1 a.m. An apartment on the second floor caught fire. The entrance was filled with smoke.

«People were screaming that there was nothing to breathe, that they were suffocating. And that their exit was blocked by smoke,» an eyewitness said.

The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) reported that rescuers evacuated 32 people from the house.

«On an area of 30 square meters, household property in the apartment was damaged,» the EMERCOM of Sverdlovsk Oblast said. «Five units of equipment and 21 personnel were involved in extinguishing the fire.»

The Asbest police told E1.RU that the infant who was dropped from the window is fine.

«The child was saved, there are no bodily injuries,» the Asbest police said.
