Two young men from Yekaterinburg, Nikita Talanov and Vladislav Revenko, have returned home after a mysterious disappearance during a vacation in Egypt. One of them described in detail what happened.
The concern of relatives was sparked when the guys did not board their flight and stopped answering calls. Later, employees of the Russian embassy managed to locate them in a police detention cell.
«We were sent to the isolation cell because we entered the building»s entrance and went up to the roof. It was open. Because according to local laws, you can«t enter entrances. At least, if you»re not a local,« Vladislav said. »There was video surveillance, a camera pointing at the entrance. It spotted us.«
Vladislav noted that he and Nikita were not allowed to contact their families or embassy representatives. The police assured that they would notify the relatives themselves, but never did.
«We sat in the isolation cell for three days. There was a separate room for foreigners. The conditions of detention, to put it mildly, were terrible, because you sit in handcuffs all the time, they never take them off. And with a blindfold on your eyes. Depending on the guard, you could lift it a bit,» says Vladislav.
Earlier, Nikita«s mother suggested that the detention might be related to the young men»s interest in graffiti.
