The driver who caused the fatal crash on a highway in the Rybinsky district has been detained. This was reported by the police of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

According to the police, he was detained under Article 91 of the Russian Criminal Procedure Code — «Grounds for Detaining a Suspect». One of the grounds in this article is when a person is caught committing a crime or immediately after it has been committed.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) for Krasnoyarsk Krai reported that the truck was driven by a 50-year-old man who had previously been deprived of his license for drunk driving. The period of deprivation ended in August 2024, but he did not restore his driver«s license — meaning he got behind the wheel without the right to drive.

The crash killed four teenagers and an employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), who was accompanying them to preparatory courses for admission to a departmental university. They were returning from Krasnoyarsk to Kansk when the accident occurred.

An Iveco truck, towing a modular house from Kansk towards Krasnoyarsk, lost its trailer — it detached, entered the oncoming lane, and crashed into a passenger Gazelle van.

There were 13 children in the Gazelle van. The condition of those who survived the crash is described in a report on the website.

All details about the fatal crash that killed four children and an FSIN employee are available in the online broadcast on the website.
