Unlicensed Driver Causes Fatal Ambulance Crash in Kemerovo

Medics were rushing to deliver the Kemerovo woman to the hospital.
A fatal traffic accident involving an ambulance occurred in Kemerovo at the intersection of Sibiryakov-Gvardeytsev and Tukhachevsky streets. On Thursday, January 22, Kuzbass police reported that a 33-year-old paramedic was injured and her patient died.
The incident happened around 07:30 when a 40-year-old driver of an Opel Zafira crashed into the medical vehicle. The ambulance team was driving through a red light, but with flashing lights and siren on. The man did not yield to the emergency service.
As a result, the 33-year-old medical service employee needed help, and the 78-year-old Kemerovo resident died.
It turned out that the Opel owner did not even have a license, for which he faces a fine of up to 15,000 rubles (approximately $150 at current rates). Police are conducting an investigation into all circumstances of the accident.
Earlier, a fatal accident occurred on the Belovo — Prokopyevsk highway. As a result of the collision, four people died immediately. And in a collision near Leninsk-Kuznetsky, three youths aged 16 to 19 died.
