Ulyanovsk College of Culture and Art Evacuated Again Amid Bomb Threat

Security forces and emergency services are on scene after a bomb threat prompted the evacuation of the Ulyanovsk College of Culture and Art.

On January 20, around noon, vehicles from security forces and Russia«s Emergency Ministry (MChS) were spotted near the buildings of the Ulyanovsk College of Culture and Art. Eyewitnesses reported this on social media. Preliminary reports indicated that a bomb had been planted in one of the academic buildings. All premises are being searched by dog handlers with dogs. Students and teachers were evacuated. No official comment has been received from security agencies yet.

Recall that the college was already evacuated on January 13. An anonymous message was received by the college«s email stating that a mine had been planted in one of the academic buildings. Emergency services and police quickly arrived. Every building had to be checked. Fortunately, the threat turned out to be false. Students were sent home.

The Ulyanovsk College of Culture and Art is one of the oldest specialized schools in the Volga region. It was founded in 1947. It operates its own small-form theater «Rampa» and an ensemble of song and dance. Among its graduates are many well-known artists in Ulyanovsk, in particular People«s Artist of the RSFSR Klarina Shadyko.
