Tyumen Teenager Sentenced for Terrorist Act

A Tyumen resident has been sentenced for terrorism and money laundering after setting fire to a railway relay cabinet on orders from Ukraine, according to prosecutors.

A resident of Tyumen has been sentenced for committing a terrorist act and money laundering. The information is stated in the official resources of the Ural Transport Prosecutor«s Office.

«The court found that in November 2024, a minor (who has since turned 18 – Ed.) as part of a group, on the orders of an unidentified person acting in the interests of Ukraine, set fire to a relay cabinet on the »Voynovka – Tyumen« section of the Sverdlovsk Railway,» the prosecutor«s office said.

A relay cabinet is a specially reinforced metal cabinet designed for controlling, automating, and protecting various equipment.

Also, according to the investigation, the teenager received an amount of cryptocurrency equivalent to 47,000 rubles (about $470 at current rates).

«Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to eight years in prison to be served in a general regime colony. The money has been confiscated for the state,» the prosecutor«s office stated.

Cases have also been opened against other participants. They have been separated into separate proceedings.

Earlier, we reported that minors from Tyumen were detained for attempting to set fire to a relay cabinet.
