Tyumen man arrested for role in alleged child abduction scam
A young man from Tyumen was detained in Blagoveshchensk as part of the kidnapping investigation.
Investigators have published details of the crime in which, according to authorities, a man from Tyumen was involved. The information was published on the resources of the Investigative Committee«s Main Department for Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia (GSU SK).
Footage from the interrogation shows the suspect from Tyumen being questioned about the fraud allegations.
«According to the investigation, on January 21, the man, acting in preliminary conspiracy with fraudsters and performing the function of a courier, flew from Surgut to the city of Krasnoyarsk. He was supposed to hand over money, which had been received by another figure in the case from a teenager, to his accomplices. On the evening of January 22, at one of the city»s restaurants, he took a backpack from a girl, after which he left it on the street at a location specified by the fraudsters. On the night of January 24, 2026, the suspect left the city by taxi and awaited further instructions from his handlers,« the GSU SK said.
As a result, the Tyumen man was detained in Blagoveshchensk on February 1.
The Case in Brief
The story of the alleged kidnapping of the son of a major entrepreneur occurred in Krasnoyarsk. A young man was caught on camera with a girl in one of Krasnoyarsk«s elite neighborhoods. Later, it turned out that three million rubles (approximately $40,000 at current rates) were also missing.
The teenager was found in a rented apartment with the girl who was in the footage. Investigators said that she is from Surgut and also flew to Krasnoyarsk specifically. On February 2, investigators reported that they had detained the Tyumen man — he allegedly performed courier functions. A criminal case has been initiated.
