Two Yugra residents killed in truck crash on Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk highway

The passenger car involved had license plates from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug region.
An accident on the Tyumen highway claimed the lives of two Yugra residents this morning. A passenger car collided with a heavy truck, according to the Tyumen Region State Traffic Inspectorate.

The fatal accident occurred at the 500th kilometer of the Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk highway. A Lada Granta car with Yugra license plates, according to preliminary data, veered into the oncoming lane. There, it collided with a Volvo truck. Judging by footage from the crash site, the impact literally crushed the right side of the passenger car inward.

The Yugra residents—the driver and passenger of the Lada—died, and their identities are being established.
The federal highway Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk was not closed due to the accident; traffic is flowing as usual. However, inspectors are warning of heavy snowfall that reduces visibility for drivers.
«The State Traffic Inspectorate is urging drivers to reduce speed on the highway during the snowfall and avoid dangerous maneuvers related to entering the oncoming lane,» the statement said.
Recall that adverse weather is setting in across Yugra as well. In the southern half of Yugra, including Surgut, Uray, Nefteyugansk, Nizhnevartovsk, Pyt-Yakh, Kondinsky, Nefteyugansky, and Surgutsky districts, heavy snowfall is forecast. In the northern, eastern, and central parts of the region, precipitation is also expected, but more moderate.
