Two Women Die Helping to Pull Car from Ditch

A fatal road accident occurred on January 31 on the Perm tract. The victims were 53-year-old Natalia Arestova, a resident of the town of Revda (Sverdlovsk region), and her 73-year-old mother, Alexandra Leonidovna. They were traveling to relatives in the village of Chernushka for a birthday celebration when their car veered into a ditch. Natalia«s husband was behind the wheel at the time.

After the car went into the ditch, both women got out to help push it back onto the road. At that moment, they were struck by a VAZ-2107 car (also known as a «seven»). The impact proved fatal for both.

Natalia«s daughter shared details: »Kolya [Natalia«s husband] had already managed to drive out of the ditch at that moment. He says: »I turn my head, and Natalia is flying over the car«,» she recounted. «Grandma was thrown into a snowdrift. She died instantly. Mom was still alive when the ambulance arrived. She was breathing and her eyes were open. But the doctors said right away there was nothing they could do to help her.»

According to the daughter, the road conditions on the day of the accident were extremely dangerous: «Because of the snow, there was sheer ice on the road, you could put on skates and go. Out of two lanes, only one was actually usable. We, of course, don»t know how fast the driver of the «seven» was going. But he insists he wasn«t speeding,» said the deceased«s daughter. »Only when the bodies were lying there did a work crew«s vehicle arrive and start spreading sand on the road.»

Alexandra Leonidovna dedicated her entire working life to a factory in Revda. Her daughter Natalia followed in her footsteps, working as a compressor unit operator at the same enterprise. In her free time, Natalia participated in productions at an amateur theater.

«She performed in plays for us, was an extra in movies, went to the pool, did aqua aerobics. Everywhere, everything the factory had to offer where you could participate, she was there for us. She was so active,» said Natalia«s daughter. »Grandma was also full of life, she planted a vegetable garden, helped build the house, never got sick, never sat still.«
