Two Saint Petersburg Residents Detained After Cell Tower Arson
Two residents of the Primorsky District of Saint Petersburg were detained on suspicion of intentionally setting fire to a cellular operator's equipment. According to the investigation, an unknown person who offered them $500 for the act might have prompted the crime.

A fire at a communications tower near the village of Cheremykino in the Leningrad Region occurred on the night of February 2. The equipment, located near the A-120 highway, was damaged by fire.
Two men were apprehended after a cellular tower was damaged by fire in the Leningrad Region.
During a patrol of the area, police officers found and detained two young men. They are residents of the Primorsky District of Saint Petersburg.
According to law enforcement, the suspects tried to hide in the forest and had a crowbar with them.
In a published video, one of the detainees claims that he was in the village at the time of the incident and points to his companion.
As explained by the police, during questioning, the men said that an unknown person contacted them via a messenger app. He offered them $500 to set fire to the communications tower.
A criminal case regarding the incident has not yet been initiated. Law enforcement agencies are checking the possible involvement of the detainees in other crimes.
