Two people die in hostel fire in Voronezh

A man and a woman died in a fire at a hostel in Voronezh. This was reported by the regional Investigative Committee.

The fire occurred on Monday evening, January 19, at 35 Torpedo Street. After extinguishing it, the body of a 53-year-old woman was found in one of the apartments. The 38-year-old man, who was also in the room during the fire, could not be saved.

The Investigative Committee is conducting a pre-investigation check. Investigators examined the scene and appointed examinations to determine the exact cause of death of the man and woman, as well as the cause of the fire.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire may have been careless handling of fire while smoking.

The investigative department reminds Voronezh residents of the need to strictly observe fire safety rules. To prevent fires, it is necessary to avoid using faulty electrical appliances and wires with damaged insulation, not to leave plugged-in devices unattended, and not to smoke in bed, using deep ashtrays for this. It is also recommended to have fire extinguishing means in an accessible place.
