Two Khasan Highway Crash Victims Airlifted to Vladivostok

Two severely injured patients from the Khasan Central District Hospital are being evacuated to Vladivostok. Preparations are underway for the flight of victims from the high-profile accident on the Razdolnoye–Khasan highway. This decision was made by the operational headquarters, according to the press service of the Ministry of Health of Primorsky Krai.
A medical team evaluates the patients to determine the necessity of evacuation to a higher-level facility.

The accident occurred on the evening of January 22 near the village of Barabash. A King Lion tour bus carrying passengers from China collided with a car carrier and several other vehicles. There were 14 people on the bus. Three passengers died at the scene.
According to the regional Ministry of Health, as of January 24, six victims of the accident were in medical institutions in Primorsky Krai. Two are undergoing treatment in Vladivostok, one patient was hospitalized the day before in the Kavalerovo Central District Hospital, and three others were in the Khasan Central District Hospital.
«All victims are receiving necessary medical assistance, and a hotline for psychological support for patients and their relatives is also operational,» the department noted.
Several hours ago, a medical evacuation helicopter flew from Vladivostok to the Khasan district on the instructions of Primorsky Krai Governor Oleg Kozhemyako. The doctors« task was to examine the severely injured patients and decide on their possible evacuation to a level three hospital.
A multidisciplinary team from the territorial disaster medicine center, led by the region«s chief anesthesiologist-resuscitologist, conducted a series of additional measures to stabilize the victims» condition. Following a medical consultation, it was decided to evacuate two of the three patients who are in serious and critical condition.
Doctors emphasized that the decision for air evacuation was made considering the severity of injuries and the need for high-tech medical care unavailable at the district hospital. The helicopter will deliver the victims to Vladivostok, where they will be received by specialists at Clinical Hospital No. 2.
The press service of the Ministry of Health of Primorsky Krai clarified that the third victim did not require evacuation to Vladivostok. By decision of the medical commission, the patient was transferred to a specialized department and will continue treatment at the Khasan Central District Hospital.
