In Udmurtia, two people died in fires over a 24-hour period. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS).

Both incidents occurred on January 25. The first fire broke out 500 meters from Gazokompressornaya Street in the village of Sharkan. The fire engulfed a wooden utility building. During the extinguishing of the blaze, firefighters found the body of a 57-year-old man with no signs of life.

The second incident occurred in the village of Kama, Kambarsky District, in a single-story wooden house. The fire destroyed not only the house but also outbuildings and a VAZ 2107 passenger car. As a result of the fire, the 61-year-old homeowner perished.

The preliminary cause of both fires, according to the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, was a violation of stove equipment operation rules.

The public is reminded:

  • Do not overheat the stove;

  • After stoking, ensure that walls, ceilings, and floors near the stove are not overheated or smoldering;

  • The point where the chimney passes through the ceiling must comply with fire safety standards;

  • Install a metal hearth sheet measuring at least 50 by 70 cm.
