Tula Residents Trapped by Boiling Water Pipe Burst

Video shared on social media shows boiling water and steam flooding the entrance of a Tula apartment building.
Residents of one of Tula«s apartment buildings could not leave their home on the morning of February 3 due to a fountain of boiling water gushing from a heating pipe. People reported this on social media.

A photo shows the first floor covered in frost, with ice visible on the doors, following the pipe burst.
Video footage shows streams of hot water and steam flooding the entrance. According to Tula residents, many could not go to work or school on time because of the accident.
Additional footage captures the extent of the flooding caused by the ruptured heating pipe in the building«s lobby.
However, later, a person who introduced themselves as the building«s senior resident clarified the situation.
«The radiator burst from the frost; residents don»t close the vestibule door in the entrance. Earlier, three years ago, another management company replaced cast-iron radiators with thin ones that are not suitable for first floors of entrances,« said Nadezhda.
The exact causes of the accident are unknown, but judging by published photos, the version of pipe rupture due to temperature fluctuations seems logical. According to the senior resident, the accident has now been fixed.
