Police have published footage from the scene of a major accident with 12 injured in the Slyudyansky district, and have revealed details of the incident.

Recall that the crash occurred today around 5 p.m. near the village of Mangutay at the 124th kilometer of the Baikal federal highway. Two trucks and a minibus traveling from Irkutsk to Ulan-Ude collided. Governor Igor Kobzev reported that 11 people were injured, five of whom were hospitalized. Later, police clarified that there were 12 injured — the driver and passengers of the bus.

The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on the fact of the accident under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, «Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements.» Police and the prosecutor«s office are conducting checks.

Preliminary information indicates that the driver of one of the trucks, which was traveling from the side of Buryatia, did not choose a safe speed, causing his semi-trailer to veer into the oncoming lane, where a passenger minibus was traveling. The impact threw the minibus into another truck traveling in the same direction.
