Truck swerves into oncoming lane, causing fatal crash in Primorye
The person responsible for the accident involving a tourist bus of the company «Primoavtotrans» in Khasansky District is a 38-year-old Chinese citizen. He was driving a heavy truck with an empty trailer, which skidded on a turn directly into the bus, according to Primorye police.
The King Long bus, carrying 14 people, was traveling from the settlement of Kraskino towards the settlement of Razdolnoye. From the city of Ussuriysk towards the Kraskino border checkpoint, an empty car carrier of the FAW Jiefang brand was moving.
On a turn, the 38-year-old truck driver, a Chinese citizen, lost control: the trailer of the vehicle skidded into the oncoming lane, where a collision occurred. Three people died: the bus driver and two passengers. Another eight people sustained injuries of varying severity and were handed over to medics.
The truck driver has 6 years of driving experience. The aftermath of the accident was captured on video by witnesses and also shown by police officers. Traffic on this section is not closed but may be hindered. Police and medics are still working at the accident scene.
The Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (providing services that do not meet safety requirements for life and health of consumers, resulting in the death of two or more persons due to negligence). At the instruction of Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, Health Minister Yevgeny Shestopalov went to Khasansky District, where the large-scale accident occurred. All necessary assistance will be provided to the victims.
The bus in which the deceased were located belonged to the company «Primoavtotrans» — the largest motor transport enterprise in the Russian Far East. In 2000, the company was appointed the official carrier for regular bus routes to China and currently operates several passenger services to the following Chinese cities: Harbin, Mudanjiang, Jixi, Suifenhe, Mishan, Dongning, Yanji, Hunchun.
