Train and truck collide at crossing in Yaroslavl

Video of the moment a freight locomotive collided with a truck in Yaroslavl has appeared on social media. The accident occurred on 19 January at a crossing in the area of Tormoznoye Highway.

The footage shows that the truck failed to stop before the crossing, even though the approaching locomotive was just meters away.

«The driver applied the emergency brakes, but it was impossible to avoid a collision,» the Northwestern Transport Prosecutor«s Office reported.
Law enforcement officials said no one was injured in the accident and the locomotive did not leave the tracks.
An investigation into the incident is now underway. Among other things, the prosecutor«s office is examining compliance with traffic safety laws during railway operations.
Separately, the Northern Railway reported that in 2025, there have been 35 cases of injuries on their sections. 27 of these resulted in fatalities. 7 of the victims were under the influence of alcohol. The highest number of accident victims was recorded in Yaroslavl Oblast, with 10 people.
