Toyota Land Cruiser driver sentenced for fatal collision

A 49-year-old man from Yakutsk has been sentenced to four years in a settlement colony for a crash that killed three people after he failed to slow down and collided with another vehicle.

A 49-year-old resident of Yakutsk will spend four years in a settlement colony. He rammed a car, resulting in three deaths. This was reported on January 22 in the Telegram channel of the republic«s prosecutor»s office.

The accident occurred during the day on March 5, 2025. The driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 entered the intersection of Lenin Avenue and Korolenko Street, did not reduce speed, and crashed into the right door of a Toyota Succeed. Footage from the scene shows that the lane the Cruiser driver was on was empty; he was driving at high speed on a green light, just as the Succeed decided to turn left. As a result, the driver and two passengers died in the hospital from their injuries.

The victims were the director of the Zverev National Dance Theater, honored cultural worker of Russia and Yakutia Alexander Alexeev; his sister, honored teacher of the Russian Federation, candidate of psychological sciences Fevronia Ivanovna; and their brother Andrei Ivanovich, as reported on the website «KP Yakutia».

The court, taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, sentenced the man to imprisonment in a settlement colony and deprivation of the right to drive for 2 years and 10 months.
