Tourist bus crash injured transferred to Vladivostok for care
Three people injured in a fatal accident involving a car carrier and a bus from the company Primoavtotrans in the Khasansky district of Primorye will be transferred to one of the institutions in Vladivostok due to the severity of their injuries. This was stated by the region«s Minister of Health, Yevgeny Shestopalov.
Primoavtotrans is one of the largest transport companies in the Far East. In 2000, the company was appointed the official carrier for regular bus routes to China, and currently it operates several passenger services to the following Chinese cities: Harbin, Mudanjiang, Jixi, Suifenhe, Mishan, Dongning, Yanji, and Hunchun.
As of 08:00, employees of the Ministry of Health held an operational meeting and checked the condition of three people at the Khasansky Central District Hospital, who are in serious and very serious condition. A patient at the «Tyisyachekoechnaya» hospital also remains under observation.
According to Shestopalov, the condition of all victims was stabilized overnight, and they are being monitored by surgeons, trauma doctors, and other specialists. Additional diagnostics will also be conducted.
A massive accident involving a bus, a heavy truck, and at least four other vehicles occurred near the village of Barabash. It is presumed that the King Lion bus was carrying tourists from China and collided with a FAW Jiefang car carrier at the 56th kilometer, driven by a Chinese citizen with six years of driving experience.
There were 14 people on the bus, three of whom, including the driver and a passenger, died. As a result, the prosecutor«s office intervened, and the investigative committee opened a criminal case on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for life and health of consumers, resulting in the negligent death of two or more persons (Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The seriously injured passengers required surgical intervention. Two other citizens were sent to the «Tyisyachekoechnaya» hospital in Vladivostok, but one of them did not sustain serious injuries and went for outpatient treatment. The condition of the second is being monitored by doctors.
