Three die in house fire in Nizhny Novgorod region

On January 30, a fire in the Nizhny Novgorod region claimed the lives of three people, the regional directorate of the Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) confirmed.

The blaze broke out in a private house on 1 Maya Street in the Sosnovskoye settlement. Firefighters who arrived at the scene discovered the fire had engulfed an area of 86 square meters. They managed to quickly extinguish the flames, but while clearing the debris, they discovered the bodies of three people.

The identities of the deceased are currently being established. The cause of the fire also remains unknown. Investigators have begun work to probe the incident.

This is not the first major fire in the region this year. Previously, a fire covering 830 square meters occurred on a farm in the Nizhny Novgorod region, resulting in the death of 150 animals, including chickens, goats, pigs, and cows.

Since the beginning of January, more than 30 fires have been recorded in the region. EMERCOM characterized the situation with fires as tense.
