Three cars collide and catch fire in Volgograd

In the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd, at the intersection of Proletarskaya Street and Heroes of Stalingrad Avenue, a collision occurred involving three cars, one of which caught fire.

The incident occurred near a hippopotamus sculpture donated to the city by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. According to preliminary data, three cars were involved in the road collision, after which one of them caught fire.

The first reports of the incident appeared on Telegram channels. Eyewitnesses indicated the accident site near the «Proletarskaya Street» bus stop. Published footage shows a black sedan with a damaged front end and a white hatchback with an open, sooty hood, where firefighters were on duty.

After extinguishing the fire, an orange cloth was found in the engine compartment.

The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) reported that no one was injured as a result of the incident.

At 11:54, a report was received about a fire in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. In the car, a fire was burning in the engine compartment over an area of 1 square meter. Firefighting units of the 6th fire and rescue station extinguished the fire at 12:05. There were no fatalities or injuries, the MChS reported. The presumed cause of the fire is a malfunction of the vehicle«s systems, components, and assemblies.

The circumstances of the collision and information about possible victims are being clarified by the police and the regional health committee.

Earlier, on Lenin Avenue in Volgograd, a serious traffic accident also occurred. There, a passenger car at high speed entered the oncoming lane, collided with a UAZ minibus, after which another car crashed into them. The minibus overturned and caught fire, resulting in three people being injured.
