After the death of a visitor at a Perekrestok supermarket, law enforcement agencies have been conducting large-scale inspections of the chain«s retail outlets and warehouses for the third day in a row.
On Saturday, January 24, 1,414 police officers participated in the operations with the support of Rosgvardiya troops. The security forces visited all 139 Perekrestok supermarkets in the region, as well as the distribution center of X5 Retail Group at 181 Moskovskoye Shosse, where they were looking for foreigners.
From the distribution center, 95 foreigners were taken away, and a protocol was drawn up for each of them. Another 280 migrants were brought in from the supermarkets themselves.
The reason for the inspections was a fatal conflict between security and a visitor. The Investigative Committee, after receiving the autopsy results, believes that the 24-year-old victim was intended to be killed and has initiated a corresponding criminal case.
