In the Chelyabinsk Region, on the Chelyabinsk – Troitsk highway on Wednesday evening, January 21, a fatal traffic accident occurred. According to the regional State Traffic Inspectorate, a 40-year-old driver of a Toyota Carina, traveling from Troitsk, attempted to make a U-turn from the far right lane and collided with a Lada Vesta moving in the same direction.

The collision between a Toyota Carina and a Lada Vesta led to the death of a teenager.

As a result of the collision, a 17-year-old passenger in the Toyota died at the scene. «The Toyota driver, as well as the driver and passenger of the Lada, were injured and hospitalized,» reported the traffic police. The Lada Vesta was driven by a 54-year-old man.

As law enforcement established, the culprit of the accident never obtained a driver«s license. »In 2020, he was already criminally charged under Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Driving a vehicle while intoxicated, having been subjected to administrative punishment or having a criminal record») and served a sentence of imprisonment,« explained the authorities.

At the scene of the incident, a police investigative-operational group is currently working to establish all the details of what happened.
