Teenager dies in Chelyabinsk accident caused by unlicensed driver
A 17-year-old teenager was killed in a traffic accident near Chelyabinsk when a driver without a license, who had a prior drunk driving conviction, caused a collision.

The fatal accident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, January 21, on the Chelyabinsk–Troitsk highway. A Toyota Carina, driven by a driver without a license, collided with a Lada Vesta traveling in the same direction while attempting to make a U-turn. The maneuver was made from the far right lane, according to the State Traffic Inspectorate for Chelyabinsk Region.
A teenage passenger died at the scene, while three others were hospitalized with injuries.

«As a result of the accident, the passenger of the Toyota, a 17-year-old teenager, died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, as well as the driver and passenger of the Lada, were injured and hospitalized,» the traffic police said.
It is known that the cars were moving from Troitsk towards Chelyabinsk. The Lada was driven by a 54-year-old driver, and the Toyota Carina was driven by a 40-year-old man.
«The driver of the Toyota Carina never had a driver»s license. In 2020, he was already criminally charged under Article 264.1 of the Russian Criminal Code («Driving a vehicle while intoxicated, having been subjected to administrative punishment or having a criminal record») and served a sentence of imprisonment,« the State Traffic Inspectorate reported.
A police investigative team is working at the accident scene.
