Teacher Feels Sorry for Student Who Attacked Him

UFA1.RU spoke with the gymnasium teacher who was shot in the face today by one of the students using an airsoft rifle. According to the teacher, the pellet hit his face, but the injury was minor. He also admitted that despite what happened, he feels sorry for the teenager.

«I inherited this class only this academic year. I naturally supported him in his studies because he had conflicts with other teachers: with the English teacher and with the math teacher. We talked just a few days ago in a very friendly atmosphere. He has a rather difficult character, lives in his own world,» the teacher told UFA1.RU.

He explained that the young man believed the teachers were biased against him.

«They supposedly do not understand his situation, and he finds it hard to study. But his grades are certainly neglected. As form teacher, I monitored him — especially attendance, which was poor. He skipped lessons and earned only Ds and Cs. His mother sends him to school, but he never makes it there,» the teacher explained.

The teacher noted that his student is a very withdrawn person. According to the teacher, he communicated with only two classmates and was in conflict with the rest. The boy also shot at them.

«He entered the classroom, and I saw he was holding this plastic rifle and a knife. He started swearing, saying he had had enough of everything. He said he had been waiting for this moment for three years, and now it had come. He shot at me, hitting my cheek, below the eye. Then he turned to the class and started aiming at the kids — at those he had quarrels with. The students closer to the door ran out, and he chased after them, throwing firecrackers behind,» the teacher recounted.

According to him, when the boy left the classroom, the remaining students quickly barricaded the entrance. A drill had been planned at the gymnasium for that day, so not everyone immediately realized the threat was real. About 20 minutes later, the teacher was informed that the young man had been detained.

Fortunately, no one was killed or injured. The attacker himself stated that he only wanted to «just scare» his classmates and teacher. The teacher, for his part, said he bears no ill will toward the boy after the incident.

«The child is in my class, and I feel sorry for him to some extent. Moreover, there was progress: if he had Ds in the first quarter, he finished the second with Cs. I tried, went around to the teachers, persuaded them to meet him halfway,» the teacher said.
