Surgut Woman Detained in Theft Case Involving Teenager

A resident of the Surgut district has been detained on suspicion of involvement in the theft of a large sum of money from the home of a Krasnoyarsk entrepreneur, in which his 14-year-old son participated.
According to investigators, on January 21, 2026, the woman, acting in concert with fraudsters, flew to the city of Krasnoyarsk. On January 22, she went to the teenager«s residence, where together they broke into safes and stole 3 million rubles (approximately $30,000 at current rates). That evening, she handed the money over to the fraudsters, keeping a portion for herself. After that, the woman and the teenager went to an apartment rented by unknown individuals and awaited further instructions, law enforcement agencies reported.
The incident sparked widespread attention because it was initially presented as a child abduction. On January 22, a search was announced for Nikolai Kapli, the son of businessman Andrei Kapli. Law enforcement obtained footage showing the teenager leaving with an unknown woman, and later the parents received a video with a ransom demand.
During the investigation, it was established that on January 22, 2026, the teenager, acting on the instructions of unknown individuals, stole 3 million rubles (approximately $30,000 at current rates) from his home, which belonged to his father, and left the house together with the woman who had arrived from another city, investigators noted earlier.
The boy and the woman were found on January 24. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) then described the teenager as «allegedly abducted,» noting that his life was not in danger. The suspect was detained.
