St. Petersburg Among Leaders in Low Road Accident Mortality

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, St. Petersburg was among the regions with the lowest number of fatalities in road accidents in 2025.

St. Petersburg ended 2025 in the group of Russian regions with the lowest mortality rate from road accidents, according to statistics from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The coefficient of fatalities in road accidents per 100,000 population in the city was 2.6. For comparison, the all-Russian figure reached 9.5.

In total, more than 13.9 thousand people died in road accidents in the country last year.

Among other regions with low values:

  • Moscow (2.2 cases per 100,000 residents)
  • Nenets Autonomous Okrug (2.3)

The highest mortality rates were recorded in the Republic of Tuva (32.7), Altai Krai (22), Oryol Oblast (20.1), and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast (20.07).
