A resident of the Rossoshansky District died while participating in the special military operation in April 2025, after which his son applied for the social payments and benefits he was entitled to. However, social services denied the young man, saying there was no proof that he was the sole heir. The mother of the deceased soldier – the young man«s grandmother – could also have claimed the support measures. However, she had died. But the police case file, medical records, and other documents confirming the woman»s death had already been destroyed because the retention period had expired.
Frustrated with the bureaucratic runaround, the young man turned to the local prosecutor«s office in October last year. The prosecutors filed a lawsuit to »establish a fact of legal significance.« As the Voronezh Region prosecutor»s office reported, the court ruled in favor of the supervisory authority. Now the son of the serviceman killed in the special operation will receive state payments totaling 12 million rubles (approximately $120,000 at current rates). In addition, he was granted monthly allowances. Read about how prosecutors are punishing Voronezh utility workers and officials for poor snow and ice removal here.
