A Sochi «winemaker» faces a multi-million ruble fine for illegal alcohol sales. This was reported by the Telegram channel «Police Sochi.»
«As a result of raids, employees of the department for administrative legislation enforcement of the Sochi city police department shut down the activities of two retail outlets selling alcohol,» the agency«s text states.
The first outlet was located in the Central District of the city. There, in an ordinary pavilion, they sold alcohol-containing liquid in plastic bottles, passing it off as «homemade wine.» The seller had no documents confirming the origin or safety of the goods. Over 100 liters of this product were removed from the shelves and seized.
The second retail outlet, belonging to the same owner, operated in the village of Esto-Sadok (Sochi region). There, the situation repeated: about 100 liters of liquid with a strange odor were put up for sale, which was also called «homemade wine» and was bottled in plastic containers. According to police, the drink was made in a makeshift manner from unknown raw materials.
All the seized liquid—nearly 200 liters—was sent for examination to accurately determine its composition and degree of danger to health. An administrative case has already been initiated against the businessman under the article on illegal alcohol trafficking. He faces a fine starting from three million rubles (approximately $31,600 at current rates).
