Bailiffs have seized the property of incumbent State Duma deputy Andrei Doroshenko and former deputy Anatoly Voronovsky, TASS reports. Both are political figures from Krasnodar Krai.

The seizure was prompted by a lawsuit from the Russian Prosecutor General«s Office, which was filed with the Sochi court on January 16 and accepted for proceedings on January 20. Voronovsky and Doroshenko are suspected of corrupt enrichment amounting to 2.8 billion rubles ($28 million at current rates).

As previously reported by 93.RU, the prosecutor«s office suspects both of using their influence »for illegal enrichment of themselves and controlled individuals« through road construction and repair in Krasnodar Krai. This scheme also involves incumbent deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Krasnodar Krai and »king of state contracts« Alexander Karpenko, as well as the currently detained Minister of Transport of Kuban Alexei Pereverzev and his deputies.

We described the scheme for «capturing road construction projects» here.

In short, Voronovsky, as the regional transport minister, allocated budget funds for state contracts on road repair, maintenance, and construction.

According to the prosecutor«s office, the funds were received by a »narrow circle of companies« that paid a »kickback« for access to contracts. Precisely the two largest firms, which received billions from the budget, are owned by Doroshenko and Karpenko.
