Six-month search for missing Perm student after stranger uses her account

The search for 24-year-old Elvira Khalilova, who went missing in mid-August, has been ongoing in Perm for six months. The girl«s mother, Lyudmila Khalilova, told 59.RU that she still has not been found.

The part-time student of Gzhel University disappeared in the Yuzhny (Southern) microdistrict, where she lives with her older brother. On the evening of 14 August, she left to visit a friend and neighbor—and vanished. Not long before this, Elvira and her brother had been talking on the phone with their mother, who lives in the Moscow region and was planning to visit Perm. The girl then promised to look for suitable tickets and a little later (around 22:30) sent a screenshot of a schedule via Telegram. After that, she no longer responded to her mother«s calls or messages. She did not make contact the next day either, although they usually called and texted almost daily.

«We know that my daughter had her passport with her and, possibly, her work record book. We know she took a waist bag,» Lyudmila Khalilova shared with 59.RU in autumn. «Her friend»s grandparents live in the neighboring building on one side, and a bit further away—grandparents on the other side. But the friend said that Ela [Elvira] did not show up at either house.«

After her daughter«s disappearance, Lyudmila kept writing to her in the messenger, although no one responded. Then she suddenly saw a stranger»s portrait on Elvira«s WhatsApp* account.

«There was some woman on Ela»s number as the profile picture: fair-skinned with blue eyes, like mine. I immediately called, and they answered with an SMS: «You have reached the wrong number,»« Lyudmila told 59.RU in September. »I then wrote: «This is my daughter»s phone, where did you get this number?« That»s it, after that the profile picture disappeared, and there were no more responses.

The search for the girl has so far yielded no results, Elvira Khalilova«s mother told 59.RU, continuing to hope that her daughter will be found.

«Nothing new. They don»t report anything by phone,« Lyudmila Khalilova commented. »It«s hard, but I»m holding on.«

Description of Elvira: she looks about 20 years old, of medium build, with dark hair and green eyes. Her height is 5«3» to 5«5» (160–165 cm). On the day she disappeared, she was wearing a black jacket, a light-colored hoodie, and pants, and was shod in sneakers. Elvira had a black waist bag with her. Distinguishing features — tattoos: on her calf — in Japanese style, on her shoulder — in the shape of a lightbulb.
