A child was hit by a tram at a stop
On Saturday evening, January 24, in the Metallurgichesky District, a schoolboy was hit by a tram. This was reported by OOO «ChelyabGET» and the Chelyabinsk State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI).
The traffic accident occurred at the «Pershino» stop on Cherkasskaya Street at 17:33.
«A pedestrian ran into the tram,» reported «ChelyabGET».
The GAI clarified that the tram on route No. 3 was being operated by a 37-year-old woman.
«While moving from Metallurgov Highway towards Sverdlovsky Prospect, at the »Pershino« stop, the driver struck a pedestrian at the stop,» specified the State Traffic Inspectorate.
An 11-year-old boy was injured and taken to the hospital. Traffic police officers are working at the scene to establish the circumstances of the incident.
Updated at 22:15: «ChelyabGET» showed video of the incident. The child was indeed running and collided with the side of the tram.
«The boy was with his mother. According to preliminary information, he did not sustain serious injuries. Nevertheless, an ambulance was called to the scene so that doctors could examine the child. But we all should understand: the outcome could have been tragic. A tram is a large, heavy vehicle that cannot stop instantly. Even a side impact against its body or falling near the tracks is extremely dangerous,» commented the organization.
