Saratov Residents Complain of Foul Smell Across City
Residents of Saratov are complaining about the smell of burning in the area of Gorpark, Ilyinskaya Square, and the television center. This was reported yesterday evening by the authors of the Telegram channel «Saratov +».
«Residents of areas adjacent to the television center, Gorpark, and Ilyinka are massively reporting a strong smell of burning, which makes breathing difficult. The source of this smell has not yet been established. Does anyone else feel it?» the channel administrators reported.
Under the post, Saratov residents left over a hundred comments, complaining that the unpleasant smell is observed not only in the central districts of the city but also in the Zavodskoy district, Yelshanka, and other places.
«On Blagodarova in Yelshanka, lately there»s been a terrible stench, as if you stuck your nose in a bag of cat food, to the point of nausea. They«re poisoning us slowly, it seems,» wrote a user with the nickname Darya Bourdonova.
Rodion Muravlev sent a photograph with heavy smog in the Zavodskoy district, and Tatyana Sereychikas — a video recording with a view from the window on Chikhareva, 10, which also shows heavy smog in the air. Saratov residents recalled that in February 2025 a similar situation was observed, and advised calling Rosprirodnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources), 112, administration chats, and even Volodin.
164.RU sent a request to the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Saratov Region, where they promised to comment on the problem of emissions into the air. Also, requests were sent to the departments of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) for the Saratov Region and Rosprirodnadzor for the Saratov and Penza Regions.

It turned out that they «are operating in normal mode, there are no emergency situations.» According to a representative of the ministry, this refers to «Saratov Oil Refinery,» «Saratovorgsintez,» and «PirroGroup.»
