Russian Deputies' Property Seized in Road Construction Scam

Bailiffs have seized the property of current State Duma deputy Andrey Doroshenko and former deputy Anatoly Voronovsky, TASS reports. Both are political figures from Krasnodar Krai.
The seizure was prompted by a lawsuit from the General Prosecutor«s Office of the Russian Federation, which was filed with the Sochi court on January 16 and accepted for proceedings on January 20. Voronovsky and Doroshenko are suspected of corrupt enrichment amounting to 2.8 billion rubles (approximately $28 million at current rates).
As previously reported by 93.RU, the prosecutor«s office suspects both of using their influence »for the illegal enrichment of themselves and controlled individuals« through road construction and repair in Krasnodar Krai. The scheme also involves current deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Krasnodar Krai (ZSK) and a major player in state contracts Alexander Karpenko, as well as the currently detained Minister of Transport of Kuban Alexey Pereverzev and his deputies.
The scheme to «seize road construction projects» was described here.
In short, Voronovsky, while serving as the regional transport minister, allocated budget funds for state contracts on road repair, maintenance, and construction.
According to the prosecutor«s office, funds went to a »narrow circle of companies« that paid »kickbacks« for access to contracts. Precisely, the two largest firms that received billions from the budget are owned by Doroshenko and Karpenko.
