Rosaviatsiya suspends Diamond aircraft use after Orsk crash

Rosaviatsiya has halted the use of Diamond aircraft in its training schools following the Orsk crash.
Head of Rosaviatsiya Dmitry Yadrov this morning inspected the site of the Diamond DA-40 crash in Orsk from a search and rescue helicopter, and on the ground heard reports from the rector of SPbGU GA Yuri Mikhalchevsky (the aircraft belonged to this university), specialists from the central office and the Privolzhsky MTU of Rosaviatsiya on interaction with the relatives of the deceased, preliminary versions of the tragedy, and its possible causes.

As reported by the agency«s press service, the means of objective control of the crashed aircraft have already been handed over to the IAC commission conducting the investigation (and there is also a criminal case), and the relatives of each of the three deceased will be paid one million rubles (approximately $13,300 at current rates) through the insurance company.
And that«s not all: the operation of Diamond DA-40 aircraft has been temporarily suspended in Rosaviatsiya»s educational institutions — for an unscheduled technical audit of the fleet of these machines. The day before, 56.RU reported that over 5 years in the Orenburg region, at least 5 emergencies have been recorded with such aircraft.
— The goal of the investigation is to establish the circumstances and causes of what happened, to develop preventive measures aimed at preventing similar events. Until the investigation is completed, any conclusions about the causes of the crash are premature, — Rosaviatsiya reported.
Recall that on February 2, 2026, at 12:51, a message was received by the dispatcher at «112» about the crash of a Diamond DA-40 aircraft with registration number RA-02673. It crashed in the area of the village of Dzhanatalap near Orsk.
On board were three people: 36-year-old Vasily N. (pilot-instructor), as well as 21-year-old Dmitry S. and 20-year-old Timofey K. (cadets).
All three died: Timofey«s father spoke with colleagues from E1.RU, and Dmitry»s mother — with colleagues from MSK1.RU. The head of Orsk, Artem Vorobyov, and the governor, Yevgeny Solntsev, promised to provide any assistance to the relatives and close ones of the deceased. Condolences were also expressed by the head of Buguruslan, Dmitry Dyachenko — it is in this city that there is a «flight school», about the emergencies with whose aircraft we have reported.
All news on the topic of the crash in Orsk is collected in a separate section.
