During the search, rescuers found the spot where their car went through the ice. This occurred in the Birakhin Bay area, about a kilometer from the shore. On January 28, using cameras, EMERCOM personnel looked under the ice. However, the depth at that location is over 700 meters, so visibility is poor.

So far, only the personal belongings of the missing fishermen have been found during the search. The search continues.

Rescuers reminded that driving on Lake Baikal«s ice is officially prohibited. The ice conditions are currently extremely difficult.

Recall that on the morning of January 28, a 75-year-old tourist from China died on Lake Baikal. She was riding on the ice in a UAZ with other travelers. At some point, the driver of the «loaf» lost control, hit a crevice, causing the vehicle to overturn. One person died, and two other passengers required medical assistance. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case.
