Renowned Scientist-Inventor Dies in Nizhny Novgorod
Professor Alexey Kolomiets of Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNSUACE) has died at the age of 87. He was a leading expert in drilling technology.

Professor Alexey Kolomiets, a distinguished expert in drilling technology, passed away at 87 years old.

Professor of the Department of Foundations, Foundations and Engineering Geology at Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNSUACE), Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexey Kolomiets died today. His death was announced by the university«s press service.
Alexey Markovitch was a major Russian specialist in the technology and techniques of drilling operations. The geologist-scientist developed an important well-drilling technology and made a number of other discoveries.
Over the years of work, he obtained 32 inventions and patents. Kolomiets is the author of 10 scientific books and numerous articles in specialized journals.
For his services to the Fatherland, the professor was awarded state honors, including the Order «For Services to the Fatherland» IV degree and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
The press service of NNSUACE emphasized: «For NNSUACE, this is an irreplaceable loss. We have lost not only a talented scientist but also a person of rare inner culture.»
The farewell ceremony for Alexey Kolomiets will be held on February 1 at 12:15 at the Bughrovsky Cemetery in Nizhny Novgorod.
