Rain Floods Ravage Yakutia, High Alert in One District

Yakutia is being flooded due to rain floods, with the most critical situation in the Olekminsky, Lensky, Suntarsky, and Eveno-Bytantaysky districts. This was reported on July 20 on the website of the Republic«s Rescue Service.

As of July 20, a heightened alert regime was introduced in the Eveno-Bytantaysky District. In the village of Batagay-Alyta, due to the overflow of the Yunkyur stream, 23 household plots are flooded, home to 75 people, including 37 children. Five bridges have been destroyed, two roads, Victory Square, the Games of Peoples park, as well as the parking lot and fueling station of the Sakkyryr airport are flooded. One person is staying at a temporary accommodation center set up in the Sakkyryr school. Bank protection work continues.

In Olekminsk, the water level reached 1077 cm, rising by 2 cm in a few hours. One residential building is already flooded, and water has approached 32 structures. In the flood zone, there are 48 private houses where 115 people live, including five children, as well as three socially significant facilities.

In the settlement of Kyllakh, the water level rose to 1000 cm, adding 8 cm in four hours and almost reaching the critical mark. In the village of Solyanka, the water rose by 95 cm over the day to 1183 cm, with 262 cm remaining to the dangerous level. In Khatyn-Tumul, the level rose by 154 cm over the day and reached 752 cm, in Sanyyakhtakh — by 124 cm, to 1059 cm.

In the Lensky District, the water level of the Lena River still exceeds dangerous values, although it has begun to decline in recent hours. In Vitim, it is 1007 cm — 57 cm above the critical level. In Peleduy, the water level reached 1247 cm, exceeding the dangerous mark by 47 cm.

In the Khangalassky District, water continues to rise rapidly. Near the village of Isit, the level rose by 51 cm in 12 hours and reached 1567 cm, in Pokrovsk over the same period the water also rose by 51 cm — to 703 cm.

Rains have washed out roads, flooded farmland, private subsidiary plots and yards in the Suntarsky District — water entered 30 yards, and a commission is assessing the damage.

In the village of Kustur, a significant rise in water on the Bytantay River is expected — 1 m 30 cm remain to the critical level. In Dzhargalakh, the water rose by 78 cm, with 1 m 60 cm remaining to the dangerous mark.

In the Verkhoyansky District, there are no flooded facilities, and water levels are declining at most hydrological stations. However, on some rivers, the rise continues. On the Yana River near Saydy, the level increased by 80 cm over the day and reached 1068 cm. On the Dulgalakh River, water continues to rise in the areas of Suordakh (+25 cm) and Tomtor (+44 cm). On the Adycha River near the village of Ust-Charky, the level rose by 171 cm over the day — to 856 cm.
