Prosecutor's Office Launches Probe into Security Firm Over Mall Death

The conflict occurred on the evening of January 21 at a «Perekrestok» store located in the shopping and entertainment complex. Security guards suspected a 24-year-old visitor of theft and attempted to detain him.

According to preliminary data, a gas pistol was used during the detention. The young man was knocked to the floor and held until the arrival of a rapid response team. By the time medical personnel arrived, he was unconscious, was hospitalized, but could not be saved.

The Investigative Committee is conducting a pre-investigation check. Police detained two private security company employees and a cleaning worker; they are charged with petty hooliganism. Another security guard fled the scene, and his search is ongoing.
