Pre-Investigation Launched After Orsk Plane Crash, City Head Details Fatalities

Investigators from the Central Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia are conducting a pre-investigative check after the crash of a Diamond training aircraft in Orsk. According to available information, there is a possibility of initiating a criminal case under the article «Violation of safety rules for the movement and operation of air transport» (Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Additionally, the Orsk Transport Prosecutor«s Office has organized a check on compliance with flight safety legislation.

In addition to the information confirmed by the government of the Orenburg region, the head of Orsk, Artyom Vorobyov, added details. According to him, the flight was indeed performed by cadets from the St. Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation, and an instructor was with them. All three died — now the data has been finally clarified.
«Rescuers, medics, representatives of law enforcement agencies, and the city administration are working at the crash site. The administration of the city of Orsk expresses condolences to the relatives and close ones of the deceased,» said Vorobyov.
