Power Supply Lost in Two Districts of Arkhangelsk Region

An emergency power outage in the Pinezhsky and Kholmogorsky districts has left thousands of homes and educational institutions without electricity, with no immediate threat to life.

In the Pinezhsky and Kholmogorsky districts of Arkhangelsk region, an emergency power outage occurred. 9,171 homes, schools, and kindergartens were left without electricity.

The Emergency Situations Ministry department for Arkhangelsk region states that there is no threat to the population«s livelihood, and evacuation is not required. The cause of the outage is not yet known and is being clarified. A crew from PJSC »Rosseti North-West« is working on site.

22,883 people live in the power outage zone, including 4,566 children. 85 socially significant objects were left without electricity, including 28 boiler houses—they have been switched to backup power sources.

Authorities in Pinezhsky district reported that the accident occurred in the territory of Kholmogorsky district.

«All boiler houses are switching to backup power sources. We will provide additional information on water supply, about which columns water can be drawn from. Due to the lack of electricity, schools and kindergartens are not operating today. Restoration work will begin at dawn,» wrote in the official group on VKontakte.

At the end of January, large-scale disruptions in the power supply system occurred in the neighboring Murmansk region. Due to the collapse of five supports, Murmansk and Severomorsk were left without electricity. For the installation of power lines in the Arctic, specialists from Arkhangelsk were dispatched.
