Power Supply Limits Imposed as Arctic Region Goes on High Alert

In Murmansk Oblast, a state of high alert has been declared due to accidents on the power lines of the company Rosseti (Russian Grids). The decision was made after a series of technical failures.
A meeting of the operational headquarters was held, led by Murmansk Oblast Governor Andrei Chibis. Representatives from Rosseti, emergency and utility services, as well as municipal heads, reported on the situation and the progress of restoration work.
Temporary power outages will continue in Murmansk and the closed administrative-territorial formation of Severomorsk. Authorities have introduced power supply restrictions for some consumers — including apartment buildings and city lighting.
«We are forced to begin limiting power supply to some consumers in accordance with current regulations, including apartment buildings and city lighting. This is necessary to prioritize providing electricity to boiler houses, hospitals, water supply facilities, and other vital objects,» Chibis said.
Residents of the region are asked to understand the situation. All emergency and operational services are working in an enhanced 24/7 mode.
Rosseti has been instructed to use all available resources to restore power lines as quickly as possible and return stable power supply.
Recall that the press service of Rosseti North-West reported that the cause of the outage was a technological disruption on an overhead power line. The prosecutor«s office of Murmansk Oblast has already begun an investigation due to mass power outages.
