Police Check Over 120 Migrants at St. Petersburg Center
During a raid in central St. Petersburg, police checked the documents of 120 foreign citizens. Every fifth one was found to have violated migration laws.

On 1 February, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry«s Main Directorate for St. Petersburg and the region reported on a preventive operation on Krasnogo Tekstilshchika Street. Hundreds of foreigners gather at this location daily to process their documents.

A total of 190 people were checked during the raid, 120 of whom were foreign citizens. Migration law violations were found in 25 visitors, and one person presented a fake passport. All offenders were taken to the department to be held accountable.
Police also inspected 110 vehicles that visitors used to come to the migration center. With the help of service dogs, they identified 10 drivers with traffic violations and five with fake license plates.
At the end of January, a similar raid was conducted in the Kalininsky district of St. Petersburg. Inspectors checked drivers and passengers — about five hundred people in total, every fifth of whom turned out to be a foreigner.
